Ajax Edit Comments, a WordPress plugin, has been downloaded over 180,000 times. It is used (albeit with modified versions) on very prominent websites such as Smashing Magazine and TechCrunch.
Originally released in 2007, Ajax Edit Comments has grown from very simple roots: it allowed anonymous users to edit their comments temporarily, and allowed admin to edit all comments.
While the anonymous features have more-or-less remained the same, the plugin now packs powerful admin features, including the ability to perform just about any comment function imaginable in both the admin panel and on a post itself.
Ajay D’souza took over plugin author duties in early 2009 from the original plugin author, Ronald Huereca. However, after several months of Ajay at the lead, Ronald returned as co-author and released the highly popular 3.0 version.
AjaxEditComments.com is born out of frustration with the donation business model. Donations were very rare, yet support requests were coming from all over. In an effort to capitalize on the plugin’s large user base, the subscription-based website hopes to centralize all support in order to provide the highest user experience and satisfaction.
