Marina,

There's no easy fix. Lightbox Plus 2 has changed a lot of things, and if anything, has made the plugin more incompatible.

I'll be able to look at this more in detail on Saturday and will try to come up with a feasible fix.

I didn't see anything there for me to do.. I'm using the latest version of Lightbox Plus, it loads the following script:

http://www.hotforwords.com/wp-content/plugins/lightbox-plus/js/jquery.colorbox-min.js?ver=1.3.8

while your plugin loads:

http://www.hotforwords.com/wp-content/plugins/wp-ajax-edit-comments/js/jquery.colorbox-min.js?ver=1.0

I've gone so far as to tell AEC to load the exact same colorbox as Lightbox (ie: I pointed it to the same .js, and it worked) BUT it then loaded BOTH javascripts with the exact same link. So that I ended up with:

http://www.hotforwords.com/wp-content/plugins/lightbox-plus/js/jquery.colorbox-min.js?ver=1.3.8
http://www.hotforwords.com/wp-content/plugins/lightbox-plus/js/jquery.colorbox-min.js?ver=1.3.8

Twice in my view source.

So my problem is that it seems like if I tell AEC not to load the javascript, it breaks AEC, or if I tell Lightbox Plus not to load the javascript, IT breaks Lightbox Plus, even if they are loading the EXACT same script!!

I don't understand what I am doing wrong!

If I could just tell AEC TO NOT load the jquery.colorbox-min.js (and possibly the .css, since it's also the same) and allow just Lightbox Plus to load it's jquery.colorbox-min.js and .css everything would be great!

So, if you could tell me what to comment out in AEC to tell it to not load them, that would be great I think.

Thanks!

Hi,
I use a plugin called Lightbox Plus which loads Colorbox. Now, AEC also loads colorbox (a different version).

The result is that I now have 2 colorbox javascripts loaded and they conflict with each other.

For one: The AEC ends up taking over the CSS of my Lightbox CSS.

And two: the Cancel button no longer works and when you edit a comment, you have to manually close the popup screen each time.

When I only have one of the plugins running (AEC), the Cancel button works and the popup screen closes automatically when I am done editing the comment.

How can I get AEC to not load the colorbox script and NOT break (as I tried making it not load the script, by commenting out where it loads the script, but then the plugin breaks for some reason).

Thanks!

Could be a few things.

1. Make sure the directories have permissions 755 and files 644.

2. Check if there is a .htaccess in your wp-content folder or wp-content/plugins folder. If there is, zero it out (make sure you back it up first).

Hi, I just moved my site to a new server, I deleted the plugin then added it again (it's on the same domain, but I wanted to make sure i started fresh.)

Now, I am getting a couple problems:

1 - I cannot get icons to show for the life of me now.

perhaps it's related to this link not working? (I grabbed it from the header)

http://www.hotforwords.com/wp-content/plugins/wp-ajax-edit-comments/css/edit-comments.css.php?iconsize=16&iconset=classy-small&rtl=false&icondisplay=classic&ver=4.1

2 - I cannot get Load wp-load.php Directly to work, even though my Wordpress installation is standard and it worked before on my previous server.

3 - I also think my css is not loading for the popup edit window.

My site is at http://www.hotforwords.com you can go ahead and sigh up to test the edit window if you need to.

Thanks so much for working on this. I can't test it on my site now as I'm on 1.6 now. Your plugin is so important that I downgraded when I first realized it didn't work on 1.7. My users screamed.

I'll probably go directly to 1.8 in a couple weeks. The beta is out and I suspect the final will be out shortly.

Thesis 1.8 beta is out and I see that the "fix" is not implemented into it, so Ajax Edit Comments will not work with it. Your rememdy will make it work, but Thesis is saying it's not a good fix. Please take a look at this thread there:

http://diythemes.com/forums/showthread.php?p=151042

The last comment explains it best I think. They say I need to rite a filter, but that's getting a bit beyond my level. I hope you can address this so I can have the proper fix, and also tell other Thesis users about it.

YOu might need to be logged in to Thesis. Just in case, here are the relevant posts:

LAST POST:

I explained in post #2 why your proposed fix doesn't really make sense to implement based on how Thesis is actually coded - $output in that line of code does not only represent the comment's text; so applying a filter specifically for the comment text to a variable which may be producing something other than the comment text is not logical.

Further, Thesis does not currently use WP's comment_text function at all; instead, it uses its own function, thesis_comment_text, and applies the appropriate WP filters to that.

So (as I also explained in my previous post), if you need to enable support for a plugin which adds filters to comment_text, the way to do that for Thesis is by adding those same filters to thesis_comment_text in your custom_functions.php file.

I can't identify the filters which Ajax Edit Comments applies to comment_text the way I could for Comment Rating, because it is a paid plugin and I do not have a copy of its source code. However, its developers should be able to tell you which filter(s) you need (i.e., the ones they are adding to comment_text); and then you can add them to thesis_comment_text in your custom_functions.php file.

Prior post:

Hmmm, $output in that line of code isn't limited to just the comment text - it's also used for the comment reply link (the second element available under Design Options > Comment Options > Comments > Comment Body). Note the array just before that in the code:

PHP Code:

        $this->body = $thesis_design->comments['comments']['options']['body'];

        if (is_array($this->body)) {
foreach ($this->body as $element_name => $element)
if ($element['show']) $output .= call_user_func(array($this, $element_name), $comment);
}

So I don't think it would make sense to apply a filter specifically for comment_text to output which doesn't always represent the actual text of the comment.

But Thesis has its own filter for the comment text, called here:

PHP Code:

    function text($comment) {
$approved = ($comment['comment']->comment_approved == '0') ? '<p class="comment_moderated">' . __('Your comment is awaiting moderation.', 'thesis') . "</p>\n" : '';
return $approved . apply_filters('thesis_comment_text', get_comment_text()); #filter
}

So, what I did was just find the filter that Comment Rating adds to comment_text, and added it to thesis_comment_text, with this in my custom_functions.php file:

PHP Code:

add_filter('thesis_comment_text', 'ckrating_display_filter', 9000);

and got this result (which, as you can tell by the checkmark indicating my rating, appears to have worked just fine):

Ronald,

Can you add this suggestion into the next release? I hate to have to keep hard coding whenever I make the update!

It's now lines 127 and 133 respectively for vs. 4.1.0.2

Or you can add a user selectable variable of what level user can edit comments.

Thanks so much!

Why does this plugin communicate with yceml.net? In my Firefox status bar, I see it continually trying to communicate with yceml.net. It says "Waiting for yceml.net....".

Domaintools.com reports this domain to be part of Commission Junction. Is this tied to the affiliate program you have for the plugin?

It was a 3.0 bug

Unfortunately, it means those who've already upgraded need to update the new version manually.

I fixed this (or hopefully fixed this) in AEC Version 4.1.0.2.

Just as a FYI, other premium plugins are having this same issue, notably BackupBuddy and Gravity Forms.

Looks like this second carriage return issue was our problem not yours, big apologies for getting you to look at that one.

We still haven’t got to the bottom of some readers not seeing the edit buttons but will revert when we have meaningful screenshots.

Good to hear you're already aware of the upgrade issue. It's interesting that the backend tells me I have one plugin upgrade available but I'm unable to find which plugin needs to be upgraded because the notification of the upgrade usually appears in the plugin info box. I'm thinking that the plugin upgrade is most likely AEC but without the new version notification.

Hi

I'm the Dutch translator and was half way with the translation, but unfortunately lost all of it due to an oversight on my account. So I need to start from scratch again, but due to time constraints I can't promise any set date when this will be ready.
